Early College Dual Enrollment

Students that graduate from Duarte Unified School District are highly sought after by esteemed colleges and universities.  Our recent graduates are attending top institutions like UCLA, Harvard, and Berkeley, but instead of entering as Freshman, they are years ahead of their college classmates because of the unprecedented Early College Dual Enrollment Degree-Bearing program offered in our district.

Duarte High School joined forces with Citrus College in 2009 to establish the first Early College program of its kind in the region. In 2017, we pioneered the only program to offer a four-year pathway resulting in an Associate of Science Degree upon high school graduation. 

This affords families a cost savings of thousands of dollars in college tuition, and provides an accelerated route for students wanting to get a head start on graduate work or entry into their career of choice.

In addition to the hundreds of students on a college pathway at DHS, we currently have over 200 students enrolled in Early College cohorts in all grade levels 9-12.

New this year is the option to take courses and/or obtain an Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T). These classes, also taught by Citrus College Professors, are offered after school at Duarte High School (1 per semester) and are available to any student interested in this field. The courses examine the causes of crime and the structure, procedures, and decision-making processes of agencies that deal with crime management. The program, which leads to the AS-T, is designed to provide a theoretical background of the criminal justice system in America (police, courts, and corrections) and familiarize students with academic, career and volunteer opportunities in the field.
