California School of the Arts-San Gabriel Valley

Duarte Unified School District (DUSD) is home to the California School of the Arts-San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) that opened in 2017-2018. This is the only sister campus of the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA). The partnership developed between DUSD and OCSA is the first of its kind between a charter and public school district with measures taken by the district to ensure the students of Duarte Unified and community of Duarte benefit from the venture. This partnership is one of seven strategies outlined in the district’s five-year strategic plan, known as the Competitive Advantage Plan.

CSArts-SGV is a public charter school that serves students in grades 7 - 12 and offers aspiring young artists from all over the region an opportunity to refine their skills and flourish in one of 10 arts conservatories offered including acting, classical & contemporary dance, classical voice, commercial dance, creative writing, instrumental music, integrated arts, musical theatre, production and design, and visual arts. The arts conservatory programs also have a small student / teacher ratio of approximately 20:1. All students who have demonstrated talents and interest in the arts are invited to apply.

As part of the arrangement, the partners agree to act in good faith to ensure that up to 10% of the new CSArts-SGV enrollment is comprised of Duarte Unified students at any given time and those students that attend K-8 schools in Duarte Unified, will have priority enrollment.
